With 2024 slowly drawing to the end, Opel had another major highlight lined up for the international media – the launch of the new Opel Frontera on Mallorca. And while the choice of location may seem unusual at a glance, the island of Mallorca has plenty in common with the latest addition to Rüsselsheim-based brand’s portfolio.
The new Frontera is both family-friendly and fun alike – just like Mallorca. “We are very proud of our new Frontera because it makes electrified mobility affordable and has many talents. It is as spacious as an Astra Sports Tourer, offers room for up to seven occupants, it is fun to drive and has everything that a car in this segment needs,” said Brand Marketing Manager, Özgecan Özdemir who had been working on the launch of the Frontera for months.

Like at the world premiere of the new SUV, the Turkish national once again took centre stage for the presentation of the newcomer. During the daily press conferences, she highlighted the many virtues of the Frontera while also masterfully dealing with the numerous questions from the media.
“It is always exciting to present a new product to the media. We appreciate that journalists sometimes have a different view – and we are happy to explain why certain features have been included and others have not,” said Özdemir who, thanks to her approachable and bubbly personality was a popular interview partner throughout her stay.

The press response to the dynamic launch of the new Frontera includes hundreds of articles and videos, some of them euphoric. The ADAC (General German Automobile Club), Europe’s largest automobile association, titled “Nobody needs more car” while Auto Express from the UK summarised “No frills approach … is deeply refreshing”.
The focus on essentials was one of the many virtues highlighted by the 400 media representatives attending the event. Others included the highly competitive pricing and great value for money, the comfortable steering, good chassis and ride comfort, the interior roominess, the smart storage solutions including the smartphone pockets in the backrests of the front seats and the large boot capacity.
With a strong product up her sleeve, the Brand Marketing Manager was not even fazed when the launch threatened to be disrupted. With gale-force winds triggering a wildfire along the test route just hours before the test drives were about to commence, she kept her calm.
“A force majeure is not something we can influence. The event team is extremely experienced, and I was confident that they would find a solution,” said Özdemir. In the end, the event team did find an alternative route which was not required as the blaze was quickly contained. And the Frontera launch on Mallorca was a great way to end 2024 on a high.
