On 9 November 1956, the two-millionth Opel vehicle rolled off the conveyor belt in Rüsselsheim, Germany. To celebrate the occasion, that Opel Kapitän was fitted with around 100 grams of gold in the form of 24-karat gold coating on all the parts that would usually come in chrome. Opel was the first German car manufacturer to hit the two-million mark. The gold-embellished car that commemorates this milestone can still be viewed in the Classic workshop in Rüsselsheim. And if you want, you can now have it on your screen, too.
