A STRONG DESIGN STATEMENT
The new Opel Astra is more dynamic than ever, with sheer, taut surfaces, detoxed of superfluous elements and with the new brand face – the Opel Vizor. This dominates the front of the vehicle as a horizontal line, making the Astra look even wider. Viewed from the side, the next-generation Astra looks especially dynamic thanks to the pronounced forward rake of the C-pillar. “The new Astra represents the exciting next step of our new design execution. With its bold Vizor front face, strong muscular wheel arch blisters and sheer surfacing, the new Astra has a very sporty and confident personality,” says Opel Vice President Design, Mark Adams. Or as the author of the Bild newspaper puts it: “This Blitz makes the streets more beautiful.”
ELECTRIFIED FOR THE FIRST TIME AND EXTRA-EFFICIENT
With the new Astra, the Rüsselsheim carmaker is also opening the next chapter in terms of drive systems: for the first time, the compact class model is available with electric drive. Two performance levels as a plug-in hybrid are on offer. In addition, there are versions with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines in combination with friction-optimised 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions. Power ranges from 81 kW/110 hp to 165 kW/225 hp system output – so superior driving performance is guaranteed. The newcomer combines driving fun with top efficiency and a strong sense of responsibility.
A LEAP IN TIME IN THE INTERIOR
The future is real: the strong driver-oriented cockpit with the seamless glass look of the Pure Panel will take our customers into a completely new world. It combines two 10-inch widescreen displays and can be operated like a smartphone. Exception: key settings such as climate control can still be operated via physical switches and buttons. Never before has an Opel been so intuitive and easy to operate. Connecting cables are also a thing of the past: the new generation of infotainment systems can be operated via touchscreen or voice control.
PREMIUM
FOR ALL
The newcomer brings innovations and comfort to the compact class that customers previously only knew from more expensive vehicles. For example, the Astra debuts with the latest version of the adaptive Intelli-Lux LED® Pixel light. The light system comes straight from Opel’s flagship Insignia and, with 168 LED elements, leads the way in the compact and midsize market sectors. The award-winning seats certified by “Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.” (“Campaign for Healthy Backs”) with massage and ventilation function offer exemplary ergonomics. Other highlights: a semi-automated lane change assistant, a large head-up display, advanced traffic sign recognition and cruise control with Stop & Go function.
RÜSSELSHEIMER THROUGH AND THROUGH
The Astra, which will be launched this year as a sporty five-door model, is more German than ever before. The new generation was designed and developed at Opel’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim, where production will begin this autumn – designed and manufactured with the highest precision, made in Germany. A special German virtue: the Astra is “Autobahnproof” down to the last detail. In short: driving fun with high-speed capability was a primary development objective.
